What Is Fitness Physical Therapy?

Fitness Physical Therapy is designed for active adults who want to stay in the gym while addressing pain. Instead of stopping exercise completely, we focus on modifying technique, improving mobility, and building strength — so you can keep moving forward without missing workouts.

Who It’s For

Fitness Physical Therapy is built for active adults who want to stay moving, even when dealing with pain or movement restrictions. Whether you’re lifting, running, or training for a goal, its not about avoiding movements, its about moving better.

This program is especially helpful if you

  • You feel pain during lifts, squats, pull-ups, or functional exercises

  • You want to fix the root cause, not just treat symptoms

  • You’re serious about your health, fitness, and longevity

  • You’re ready to modify intelligently — not give up on your goals

  • You’ve been told to “just stop” but know you can keep training smartly

Here's Our Process:

1: Listen to your story

Before we create a plan for you. It's important to understand your situation. Most people have tried multiple things so we want to know what has and hasn’t worked. It's also important to understand lifestyle factors that can have a huge impact on pain, especially your sleep and nutrition.

2: Perform a thorough evaluation

We will watch you performing the lift or exercise to evaluate your technique. If your shoulder only hurts after you do 10 pull ups or your back only hurts if you deadlift more than 200lbs its probably going to be important to see what you look like when doing that.

After that we will assess your muscle strength and muscle and joint range of motion in areas important to the correct performance of that exercise.

3: Create a plan

Based on the evaluation, we will identify any areas to be improved and we will guide you through exercises or treatments to improve those areas. And we will set a schedule for how often to meet. For many people this is 1x a week for a handful of visits and they are good to go.

4: Get Moving

Now that we have a plan, we'll work to get your body more balanced and resilient. A big part of that is doing the exercises on your own and communicating with us  in between sessions to stay on track.

5: Maintain Momentum

As you improve, we'll progress your plan so you can continue getting stronger, more mobile, more coordinated or dial in the lifestyle things that are contributing. If we hit a bump in the road (which is normal) and things are not going as well; then we will reassess and  make a new plan if needed.

Why Choose Us

We understand training, technique, and what it means to move with purpose.

We Understand Movement

Our clinic is a gym. We don’t just tolerate training — we analyze it. That means watching how you move, how you lift, and how your body responds. You’ll never be told to stop — unless there’s a better way to keep going.

We Find The Root Cause

Pain isn’t random. Whether it’s your shoulder after pull-ups or your back during deadlifts, we break down the technique, evaluate your mobility and strength, and treat what’s actually causing the issue.

We Keep You Active

Our goal is to keep you training — not shut you down. We guide you with the right modifications so you can stay consistent while you heal, progress, and build resilience.

Longevity Mindset

The purpose of exercise is to enhance your life, not be your life. The exercises you're doing now should be setting you up to be more capable, resilient and thrive later in life, not burn you out.

Let’s Get You Back on Track.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • $124 per session. If the issue is something that is also affecting your daily life, we can submit it to your insurance. If it is strictly an issue with exercise, it is likely not covered by your insurance.

  • If you’re hesitant about the price, think about it this way: what is it costing you if you're not able to stay with your fitness routine? It’s not just about being able to do pull ups or deadlifts, it's about showing up as the best version of yourself for your family. It's about having the confidence to play basketball with your kids or chase your kids around playing sharks and minnows without worrying about your back or knee.

  • You can expect a thorough evaluation starting with evaluating your lifting/movement technique and then assessing specific strength, range of motion and coordination limitations that may be contributing to your pain and we develop a plan based on what we found.

  • You need to be an active participant which means doing 2-3 exercises on your own on days you don’t come to therapy. The expectation is that you spend about 10 min a day doing your exercises. No matter how busy you are, if you are serious about getting better, you can commit to 10min most days  to do your exercises.

  • Most of the time we see people 1x a week for therapy. Many people may only need a few sessions. Some need much more. It’s all based on your goals and individual situation.

What our Clients Say

I came to Nick with sudden onset knee and hip pain. My orthopedic doctor keeps pushing surgery but I don't feel it's necessary as I'm very physically active and usually function quite well. Something I was doing in the gym seems to have set off this flare up of pain and dysfunction on the right side of my body. I did some research and chose to work with Rech Physio. I'm a very enthusiastic strength and functional trainer who needed someone with knowledge and experience in this area. Besides being a physical therapist, Nick has an athletic training background. I was looking for someone who would not throw the usual grandma exercises at me just because I'm over 50. After careful evaluation Nick was able to do some traction and teach me exercises to perform to help relieve hip impingement and weakness. This also relieved my knee pain! The PT was performed in a gym environment, where I was very comfortable, and he was able to accurately assess my abilities and limitations. I'm super happy with the outcome and can't recommend Rech Physio enough. Why on earth would I choose surgery when a little PT would do the trick?

-Alena Freeman

Nick was great to work with, helping me with exercises that quelled my knee pain and allowed me to move freely. I would highly recommend him!

-Susan Nickerson

Nick is an incredible human! He truly has your health and well-being in mind at every appointment. I never felt like just another patient. After my first elbow surgery, I didn't see much improvement in strength and mobility while under the care of another physical therapist. After the second surgery, I gave Nick a call to set up a consultation. It was so quick and easy to make an appointment. He is incredibly friendly and encouraging. It didn't take long for me to see improvements! Each session I not only worked to strengthen my muscles but he also gave me 'homework' to keep the process moving! I can confidently say I'm back to full health with my elbow thanks to Nick! I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

-Brittnnii Spiehs

I got referred to Nick by my chiropractor. I had been seeing another physical therapist for 3 months and did not see any improvements in my condition, and the therapist still didn't understand the cause of my pain. I visited Nick once, and he immediately diagnosed the problem correctly and prescribed a treatment regimen. At the time I visited him first, I could not take a 10 minute stroll and not experience extreme pain. 2 weeks of doing the exercises he prescribed for me made it possible for me to take a 5 mile hike and not experience any pain at all. I highly recommend Nick to anyone.

-Eryn Zerr

I started seeing Dr.Rech for a Sciatic Nerve issue. With a very physical job, it was very painful to go to work every day let alone get through the daily routine. We started with simple, effective, and easy to do stretches throughout the day to relieve pain and pressure. Within days I was feeling better, and after a few weeks back to my normal self. I highly recommend his services and appreciate what he has done for me.

-Jared Hoffman

I have been having hip pain (forever) and some lower back pain (recently). I would need to pop my hips 3-4 times a day and most definitely before I could fall asleep; and even then, the discomfort would wake me up in the middle of the night forcing me to roll over to the other side to sleep, and then that process would repeat itself multiple times throughout the night. After explaining everything to NIck, he gave me multiple exercises to do--all very simple and easy to do. Now I very rarely have any pain of discomfort in my hips, and I don't wake up in the night from a "soreness" in my hips which allows me to sleep so much better. Overall, it was such a great experience--I would HIGHLY recommend Rech Physio.
